The Bakersfield Tennis Open has produced alumni with ever increasing world rank. As of December 2024, ten alumni are currently ranked in the Association of Tennis Professionals’ (ATP) top 100. The main draws of each Grand Slam all included players who have previously played in the Bakersfield Tennis Open. Casper Ruud of Norway has won twelve ATP tournament titles and is now the #6 ranked player in the world. Hubert Hurkacz is the highest-ranked Polish man in singles history and has won seven ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2023 Masters title in Shanghai. With his very successful 2023 and 2024 seasons Taylor Fritz has maintained being ranked the #1 American singles player. Frances Tiafoe, 2015’s Bakersfield Tennis Open Champion, had one of his greatest career runs at the 2022 US Open eliminating Rafael Nadal on his way to an epic five set semi-final battle against Carlos Alcaraz. Rinky Hijikata was only ranked 337 when he won the Bakersfield Tennis Open Championship in 2022; ten months later he rallied to take the doubles grand slam championship at the 2023 Australian Open!
